Part time position - 12-5:30 M-F, can be mildly flexible on hours. $15/hr, one week paid vacation during CPS spring break.
Looking for a likeminded professional (progressive ideals) to fill the role of assistant teacher in my home daycare. This job really feels most like a nanny or close family member, acting in tandem as an educator.
I opened Best Nests doors in February of 2015 after years of teaching in Chicago Public Schools. Being a new mother at the time, I found the idea of sending my daughter to daycare and returning to teaching other people’s children to be a false choice. Best Nest became the solution. Now, nearly four years later, I find myself shaping young minds every day with my two children by my side, the Best of both worlds.
Happily, this adventure has resulted in an extraordinarily tight knit community of Chicago families as well as a gratifying career for me personally. I know I speak for my longtime assistant when I say that the impact of the work has surpassed my imagination.
We focus on child-led learning for children, ages 5 months to 3 years. Our specialty is individualized care that is typically only possible with a nanny. We provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks. When the weather permits, we take long walks and spend plenty of time in active play at neighborhood parks. The children participate in weekly music class with our talented resident music teacher, Dave-Dave. At the forefront of our day-to-day here at Best Nest is an emphasis on acceptance, empathy, and equality—even for the littlest of kiddos.
