Campus Cooperative Preschool is seeking a qualified and motivated applicant looking to work in a creative, flexible environment. CCP has been part of educating young people in this community for more than sixty years and has a dedicated staff committed to the well-being and development of children’s social, emotional, and cognitive skills. The school uses a dynamic curriculum that promotes development through play and has a strong art program integrated throughout. Applicants must meet current DCFS qualifications for a director of a preschool with fewer than 50 children in order to be considered for the position. Minimum qualifications can be found below. Leadership duties Oversight and evaluation of staff Organization of in-service training and staff conferences Nurturing relationships between parents and teachers Attendance at monthly Board meetings and a handful of evening events at the school Administrative duties Registration duties and maintenance of class lists and student records Organization of staffing calendar, staff substitutions, and record keeping for payroll Maintenance of DCFS standards within the school and completion of required work for licensing and coordination of annual safety inspections and drills Floating presence between two classrooms and occasional subbing Qualifications: At least 21 semester hours of college credit in child development, early childhood education, or early childhood special education Either a Gateways to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential or 3 semester hours of college credit (or 3 points of credential approved training) in administration, leadership, business, or management Ability to relate equally well with all children regardless of sex, race, nationality, or religious affiliation Desire to embrace a play-based philosophy and an interest in art Benefits Flexible schedule and workplace on the University of Illinois campus May be eligible for tuition benefit for dependents Workplace with very little staff turnover Competitive salary Flexible start date If interested, please submit the following materials to Campus Cooperative Preschool with the subject line “CCP interim director”: Resume, names and contact information for three references, and a copy of a transcript for any college or university classes taken, availability for an interview Any offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.This search is open until the position is filled, so please apply early.
